What is The Maktab After-School Program?
The Maktab Program creatively delivers the essence of Islamic principles to spark curiosity in young Muslims. Through engaging narratives and interactive activities, our program nurtures spiritual, moral, and academic growth.Â
‍
The Maktab Program Components:
1. Islamic Studies:Â To instill a deep love for the Quran, foster an understanding of core Islamic beliefs and practices, and guide students in shaping a strong and meaningful Islamic identity, the Islamic Studies component of the Maktab program gradually introduces students to the core concepts of religion based on their grade level.
- An introduction to the fundamental beliefs of Islam (Aqeedah), the Five Pillars of Islam, and inspiring short stories from the Seerah of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) and other prophets [for 3rd & 4th graders]
- Deeper exploration of the Seerah, and an introduction to important Duas. [for 5th graders]
- Study of advanced Seerah, Hadith, basic Tafseer, and Islamic ethics [for 6th & 7th graders]
- Intermediate Fiqh topics (Islamic law), understanding of the Aqeedah (Islamic theology), study of the lives of early Islamic scholars, and practical application of Islamic teachings [for 8th graders]
‍
2. Quran Classes: Makhraj, Tajweed, and Recitation Acceleration Â
Our Quran classes emphasize precise Makhraj (pronunciation of letters) and Tajweed (rules of recitation), ensuring that students recite the Quran accurately and beautifully. With focused guidance, students build confidence and fluency, accelerating their progress in recitation. These classes help deepen their connection to the Quran, fostering a love for its recitation and meaning.
- Introduction to basic recitation with focus on the correct pronunciation of Arabic letters and basic rules of Tajweed. [for 3rd & 4th graders]
- Memorization of longer Surahs, reinforce Tajweed rules, and improve recitation fluency. [for 5th graders]
- Continued memorization of longer Surahs, focus on improving recitation fluency, and deeper understanding of the meaning of verses [for 6th & 7th graders]
- Completion of memorization of key Surahs with a focus on fluency and Tajweed, recitation and understanding of meanings. [for 8th graders]
‍
3. Math, English, and Homework Help (Optional)
Academic support to our students to strengthen their foundational skills in both Math and English. Our experienced instructors encourage our students to complete their school assignments during the after-school hours that not only allows students to get done with their assignments in a supportive environment but also enables them to get help where needed and polish their core concepts.
