- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent required
- Experience with children, preferably in a school-like setting

The Gem Center is recruiting motivated individuals, including college students, to join our team for our after-school program. The primary role of after-school tutors is to support GEM’s mission of supporting students' academic and social growth.
Responsibilities:
- Contributes to student learning, growth, and advancement.
- Demonstrates academic competence in subject area(s), including K-6th grade math and Language Arts.
- Ensure alignment with TEKS standards and educational goals.
- Regularly review and update curriculum to incorporate best practices and address student needs.
- Stay updated on educational trends, teaching methodologies, and curriculum advancements.
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations and guidelines.
- Facilitates problem-solving with a curious mind and critical thinking skills.
- Serves as a role model for students.
- Collaborates effectively with parents and the organization to increase student performance.
- Recognizes the relationship between social-emotional learning and academic performance and shows an ability to teach the “whole child.”
- Safely supervises and engages with students during class time and downtime.
- Records weekly grades and communicates progress to parents.
- Organize and maintain the classroom supplies and environment.
- Ensure that all school rules, policies, and guidelines are adhered to in the classroom.
